The Commission for Doctorate and University Habilitation in Information and Communication Sciences


The Commission for Doctorate and University Habilitation in Information and Communication Sciences is an internal academic body within the Doctoral School of "Communication, Culture, and Heritage" at the University of Manouba. It is one of the eight scientific commissions that make up the aforementioned doctoral school.

In accordance with current national regulatory provisions, the commission is entrusted with the following missions:
  • The examination and evaluation of application files for doctorates and university habilitations;
  • The verification of the scientific and pedagogical maturity of candidates;
  • The proposal of defense juries in compliance with the organizational frameworks in force in Tunisia;
  • The issuance of the National Doctorate Degree within the License-Master-Doctorate (LMD) system.

The doctoral degree marks the completion of a three-year (03) training and research cycle following a Research Master’s degree in the field of Information and Communication Sciences. This cycle corresponds to a total volume of one hundred and eighty (180) credits.

Doctoral studies consist of training through and for research and innovation. They conclude with the defense of a doctoral thesis and lead to the awarding of the National Doctorate Degree. They aim to provide doctoral students with pedagogical research methodologies, develop their high-level scientific and professional skills, and facilitate their integration into the fields of research, higher education, and scientific innovation.

The commission is also responsible for examining files from Category B faculty members seeking a defense to obtain the University Habilitation. The latter is a mandatory step to reach the rank of Associate Professor (Maître de conférences) and to be eligible for membership in the Commission for Doctorate and University Habilitation.

The commission meets mandatorily once a month. Its current composition is established as follows :
